In this interview at the SumZero Virtual Investor Summit 2024, Mohnish Pabrai discussed his disappointment with the current political gridlock in Congress, and choice of political candidates. He also highlighted the significant potential for the U.S if a more functional government existed. Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

Pabrai: I wish I had better choices you know.

I think the the range of candidates… I mean I would just say that we are the leaders of the free world.

We are carrying the torch of democracy and I mean I love the United States. One of the most amazing things about the United States and the founding fathers and the kind of form of government they set up, it’s basically bulletproof.

And you see the craziness that goes on in Washington and the economy still does well, and everything still going running and working. Tt’s thanks to the founding fathers.

But I think it’s a sad State of affairs in Congress. It’s very sad state of affairs with the candidates on both sides. And I wish there were better choices.

The U.S is doing so well with you know just morass and you know complete deadlock in Washington. Just imagine what we could do if we actually had somewhat half functional government, it would just be night and day.

  1. I disagree. We like grid lock in Washington DC. The market likes it too. The less government gets in the way, the better.
