During his recent interview at the Delphi Economic Forum, Prem Watsa outlined his best investment strategy. Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
Watsa: So the best investment strategy is always the same Stelios.
You have to go with good people like Fokionas, or like Alex, and people who have got a long track record. Have operated with the highest of integrity and take a long term view.
Financially very sound companies. You have to always have financially sound companies. But we are very sensitive to the people who are running the company, and when you have good operators you’ve got to evangelize you know.
You’ve been running the company for decades and done exceptionally well. So when you have that Stelios going for you, wherever we invest we invest with good people who are trying to build a company, and who have got a good culture of treating people well.
And our own company has that culture. The Golden Rule – treat people like you want to be treated yourself, and it’s worked for us for 37 years Stelios.
