In his latest interview with the Miami Herbert Business School, Leon Cooperman discussed the opportunities that he looks for. Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
He’s [Warren Buffett] rubbed off of me and he’s a value investor. He’s a long-term investor which I do. I very rarely buy anything that doesn’t have earnings and I buy below market multiples…
I’ve said to the young people working for me if every stock we own is going up and it’s on a new high list that means you’re a momentum investor.
If everything you own is in the new low list and going down you’re out of business, and I have a combination of things that are working and things are not working.
I’m much more inclined to buy things that are not working because I like to buy things that are out of favor, they’re cheap.
