Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) Q3 2025 Earnings Call — “Bringing AI Into the Real World”
Sunday, November 2, 2025 · Johnny Hopkins

Elon Musk opened Tesla’s Q3 2025 earnings call by declaring that the company is “at a critical inflection point for Tesla and our strategy going forward as we bring AI into the real world.” He emphasized that “Tesla really is the leader in real-world AI,” adding, “No one can do what we can do with real-world AI.”
Musk described the next stage of growth as “scaling at a quite massive level — full self-driving and robotaxi — and fundamentally changing the nature of transport.”
He predicted that the transition “will take off… like a shock wave,” noting that “we have millions of cars out there that, with a software update, become full self-driving cars.”
On expansion, Musk said, “With clarity on achieving unsupervised full self-driving… it makes sense to expand production as fast as we reasonably can.” He also spotlighted Tesla’s growing impact in energy storage, remarking that “with both Powerwall and especially with the Megapack, we are dramatically improving the ability to generate more energy from the grid.”
He explained, “If you buffer the energy with batteries, you can effectively double the energy output in the United States just with batteries, pulling no incremental power plants.”
Turning to robotics, Musk called Optimus “likely to be… the biggest product of all time.” He said the humanoid robot will “seem so real that you’ll need to poke it to believe that it’s actually a robot.”
The company plans to unveil “Optimus b three probably in Q1,” and Musk suggested that its evolution could “create a world where there is no poverty… where everyone has access to the finest medical care.”
Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja highlighted record performance: “We set new records not just for deliveries and deployments, but also around a range of financial metrics from total revenues, energy gross profit, energy margins to fresh free cash flow.”
He reported that “automotive revenues increased 29% in line with the growth in deliveries,” while “our free cash flow for the quarter was approximately $4 billion,” pushing “total cash and investments at the end of the quarter… over $41 billion.”
Taneja added that “bringing AI into the real world is hard. But we have never shied away from doing what is hard.”
On autonomy, Musk said, “We are expecting to have no safety drivers in at least large parts of Austin by the end of this year.” He reaffirmed, “I feel 100% confident that we can solve unsupervised full self-driving at a safety level much greater than human.”
He described Version 14 of FSD as “a major new software architecture” prioritizing “safety first and then… comfort thereafter,” saying, “This car is going to feel like it is a living creature.”
Musk also praised Tesla’s new AI5 chip: “By some metrics, the AI five chip will be 40 times better than the AI four chip… I’ve poured so much life energy into this chip personally, and I’m confident this is going to be a winner.” He said the chip will deliver “the best performance per watt, maybe by a factor of two or three, and best performance per dollar for AI, maybe by a factor of 10.”
Looking ahead, Musk envisioned a dramatic scaling of Optimus production — “a million units… then 10 million units… maybe 50 to 100 million units.” He called the humanoid robot “the infinite money glitch,” explaining that “if Optimus achieves five times the productivity of a person per year… working will be optional.”
The call closed with Musk reiterating his governance concerns: “I just don’t feel comfortable building a robot army here and then being ousted because of some asinine recommendations from ISS and Glass Lewis who have no freaking clue.”
Taneja concluded by urging shareholders to support the upcoming vote: “We are asking you as our shareholders to support Elon’s leadership… because the meeting will shape the future of Tesla.”
